Less than 3 weeks into our stay… (Tatyana)

We’ve now been in Thailand 2.5 weeks. How much can happen in a short period of time like that? A lot if God is doing the working. And He is definitely working!  This monday a van with police officers and directors from severals schools from the city of Tak came to Avoda. Raimond was almost jumping from joy when they left. These officials came to us christians for help. He’s lived here 20 years and it has never happened before. This is a HUGE step for them to come to us when they perfectly understand our mission here as christians. The police want us to teach English to the local officers. The directors are asking us to teach English in more schools. But it is not really about teaching English to us. It is about making crucial relationships with the directors and teachers and officials. That was Monday.

Tuesday. Bigger news. The director of education of the whole province of Tak came! She wants us to make two 3-day seminars to train the  250 teachers in all the province of Tak! It is amazing how God is working. It is even more incredible when you understand that thais NEVER come for help from christians. Not only that, but a few years ago teachers and some monks were against Raimond’s work and completely closed down all his ministry with locals. To see the change of heart is really encouraging for us. Glory be to God for working so powerfully in so little time!

Recently we found out that there are already some western teachers in Tak city. They are teachers also and offer English lessons, but from what we hear the Thai people aren’t happy with them because they don’t fit into the conservative Thai culture. We could have been just another group of western teachers, just like them. But somehow (not thanks to anything we did) we have earned the respect of the people and directors in Tak in less than 3 weeks. God is great!
