Everyday Adventures! (Staya)

Written by

A continuation from my previous post about our dangerous friends continues! It’s quite funny that the next day right after posting about snakes, scorpions, and centipedes I almost saw them ALL in one day!

Let’s begin with the snake! After preparing lunch with the girls I wasn’t too hungry so I went to continue my work landscaping. It was pretty hot and I wasn’t really motivated so I sat down on a tree log to plan out and examine my work. While I was sitting and thinking I spotted a friendly snake not too far from me. He was about normal size, a little over a meter long.

How excited I was to finally see a snake, luckily my phone was in my hand so I took a picture but you couldn’t really see the snake and I wanted to take a better one. I slowly, stood up without moving and without making any noises but that snake was incredible! He heard me the instant I began to stand up! He quickly vanished into the pond. Disappointed, I sat back down and continued trying to motivate myself to work while thinking about the snake. Snakes are afraid of people, big things, anything that can destroy them. They always run away and hide when they see something or hear something. They rarely attack unless their life is threatened. That’s why when I was landscaping I was never scared. We had so much noise and chaos going on while cutting down the grass with an ancient lawn mower that’s too loud to hear the person who’s standing right next to you.

I was confident that all the snakes and creatures that once lived here were long gone. That’s why it was a bit unexpected that I saw this snake, but no worries he must’ve learned his lesson by now. So I sat for another 10 minutes or so and finally decided to get up and go get a drink! Just as I got up right behind me I heard rustling and saw the snake quickly vanish! Now this time I became a bit more cautious, the snake should’ve been afraid of me and should’ve disappeared but it didn’t! This time I decided to search for it and find it instead of it finding me the next time! I waited and searched for it by the area I saw him in first. I couldn’t find him and I was just about to give up when I saw it up ahead by the pile of rocks, and he hid in the rocks! The rocks which I’m supposed to transport to another location!

To transport the rocks and stones we were using the Popopo and that tractor is loud! If you don’t remember you can go all the back to our February posts and refresh your memory! There was no way whatsoever possible for the snake to be there! Aron and I didn’t even bother to check. After Natasha drove up the Popopo, Aron and I started to load up the tractor and because it was so hot and there were many rocks Aron sat down in the shade of the Popopo while I continued to load up. I’m talking to Aron and all of a sudden Aron says, “Staya, stop” I said, “what?” He’s like, “You’re standing on a snake.” I just laughed and said haha funny. And I see that he’s serious and I asked really? He said yeah. I was standing on this arched cement piece.

This is the picture I took right after I got off where Aron was sitting and saw the snake. The snake is there in the picture but sadly you can’t see it. Both of us were super surprised to see the snake because the both of us were making so much noise and walking around and on the rocks for a long time. We then decided to kill the snake. While trying to flip the cement over the snake quickly ran away. He was really fast. Aron said that fast snakes aren’t poisonous, the slow ones were. So that was good to hear. We haven’t seen the snake since then, I hope he ran away and doesn’t return!

Enough said about the snake while we were loading up the rocks we found a scorpion. Some are very hard to see, the brownish colored ones. They blend right in. This one was a mom, if you look closely she has mini scorpions on her back.

We also have black ones. This scorpion was found by the work site where the workers were building.

Here’s a better picture of a tarantula.

One other time San and I were loading up cement bricks from the bathroom that we built in April because we ran out of the new ones. While we were loading them up we met two centipedes living inside the bricks and 2 scorpions. Life is full of adventures!! Thank God we are all safe and thank you very much for your prayers!
