Bonding with Children. (Serge) 2/14/13

Written by

Last week half of our Avoda children that were participating in competition, had left to Chiang Mai (big city in North Thailand), but other half of children stayed home to cook, clean, and watch over the property.

So in the evening we had some time to spend with them. We brought with us few card games like “Go Fish” & Christian “Go Fish” with Bible characters and heroes and other similar games, and children here absolutely LOVE to play. Because they are growing up here like ALL children should.

They are not influenced and “SPOILED” by technology, tv, or video games, so they are pure. They spend much time playing outdoors (soccer, badminton, volleyball, fishing in their pond, cleaning, cooking) and pretty much finding things to keep themselves entertained. So playing card “memory” games and board games is ideal for them, because those games are in English and they get to practice speaking phrases and learning new words that they never knew.

We see that these games are a very good teaching tool to teach them, and they sometimes sit down to play by themselves and could play these “Go Fish” games for hours!

And another interesting thing is that they don’t care who they play these games with, boys will play with girls and even youngest will play with the oldest, as long as they are having fun! And it’s so cute to watch the oldest and the youngest play these games and hearing them pronounce these words when neither of them knows how to speak English, but it’s a pleasure to watch them play and try to speak it.

When we play with them, we help them with the pronunciation and finish our evening with prayer and some singing where they sing some of our favorite Thai songs and we sang some of our Russian songs for them.
